Masala Paneer, a dish made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese) and aromatic spices, offers several health benefits. Paneer is an excellent source of protein, essential for muscle maintenance and repair, making Masala Paneer a satisfying option for vegetarians. The dish also includes spices like turmeric, which contains curcumin known for its anti-inflammatory properties, and ginger and garlic, known for their potential immune-boosting and antibacterial benefits. 

Ingredients:

  • 200g paneer (cubed)
  • 1 cup onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 cup tomatoes (pureed)
  • 1/2 cup bell peppers (any color, chopped)
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder 
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

Prepare Ingredients:

  • Chop the onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers. Cut paneer into cubes.

Sauté in Rice Cooker:

  • Switch on the rice cooker to the "Cook" mode.
  • Heat oil or ghee in the rice cooker. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Add Ginger-Garlic Paste:

  • Add ginger-garlic paste to the onions and sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.

Add Spices:

  • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.

Add Tomatoes:

  • Add the pureed tomatoes to the rice cooker. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.

Add Bell Peppers and Paneer:

  • Add chopped bell peppers and paneer cubes to the cooker. Mix them gently with the masala.

Cook in Rice Cooker:

  • Close the lid of the rice cooker and let the masala, paneer, and bell peppers cook for about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Check for Doneness:

  • Check if the bell peppers are tender and the paneer is cooked. Adjust salt and spices if needed.

Add Garam Masala and Garnish:

  • Add garam masala and give it a final stir.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Serve:

  • Switch off the rice cooker and let the Masala Paneer rest for a few minutes.
  • Serve the Masala Paneer hot with naan, roti, or rice.
