Sheer Khurma

Sheer Khurma

Sheer Khurma, a traditional South Asian dessert, offers nutritional benefits. It contains milk for calcium and protein, dates for natural sweetness and fiber, and nuts for healthy fats and antioxidants. Consuming Sheer Khurma in moderation provides energy, supports digestion, and contributes to overall well-being.

  • 1 liter full-fat milk
  • 1/2 cup vermicelli
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4-5 dates, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons ghee
  • 2 tablespoons mixed nuts
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • Saffron strands
  • Rose water
  • Chopped dried fruits for garnish

Prepare Vermicelli:

  • Heat ghee in a pan and roast the vermicelli until golden brown. Remove from heat and set aside.

Prepare Milk Mixture:

  • In a separate pan, bring the milk to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
  • Add sugar, chopped dates, chopped nuts, cardamom powder, saffron strands (if using), and rose water to the milk. Stir well to combine.

Add Vermicelli:

  • Add the roasted vermicelli to the milk mixture. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the vermicelli is soft and cooked through.

  • Once the Sheer Khurma is cooked to your desired consistency, remove it from heat.
  • Garnish with chopped dried fruits and more chopped nuts if desired.
  • Serve Sheer Khurma warm or chilled, according to your preference.
