Ugadi Pachadi, a symbolic dish consumed during the Telugu and Kannada New Year, offers diverse health benefits. Its blend of jaggery, tamarind, neem flowers, raw mango, salt, and chili provides a mix of nutrients and flavors. Jaggery aids digestion and offers energy, while tamarind supports digestion and provides vitamin C. Neem flowers possess medicinal properties, contributing to immune function and detoxification.

Ingredients:

  • 1 small raw mango
  • 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
  • 2 tablespoons jaggery
  • 1 teaspoon neem flowers
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 1 cup water

Instructions:

Prepare the Ingredients:

  • Peel and chop the raw mango into small pieces.
  • Soak the tamarind paste in 1 cup of water and extract the tamarind juice. Discard any solids.

Mix the Ingredients:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped raw mango, tamarind juice, jaggery, neem flowers (if using), salt, and finely chopped green chili.

Blend:

  •  If you prefer a smoother consistency, you can blend the mixture using a blender or food processor until smooth.

Adjust the Taste:

  • Taste the Ugadi Pachadi and adjust the sweetness, sourness, and spiciness according to your preference by adding more jaggery, tamarind, or chili as needed.

Serve:

  • Transfer the prepared Ugadi Pachadi to a serving bowl.
